Dragonsspine Champions
Last Saturday I went to another SCA event — and this time I remembered my camera, too.
I set up the booth, of course — this time in a borrowed EZ-up:
It was a smaller event than I’d expected, but I had a good time. I was set up next to a couple of friends and their dogs:
This is Nicki and Rae (spelling optional). They’re terribly sweet, and even Loiosh doesn’t mind them too much. I’m very fond of them myself.
I didn’t manage to get any pictures of the actual fighting, but I got a couple nice shots of the rest of the event. A bunch of people lounging under a rather nice canopy:
I really like the coloured canvas so much better than the plain off-white stuff. It’s more expensive, though, so not a lot of people use it.
We had musicians! I really enjoy listening to live music at events like this — heck, anywhere, really. We’ve been spoiled by audio recording and radios and such but on the other hand, there’s not near as much music played live as there once was. It’s one of the things I really enjoy about the SCA:
Someone had this awesome shade to put over his armor — I love this kind of heraldic display. It just makes things look right.
And of course Loiosh was there — but he spent most of the day hiding. He really likes sleeping on empty suitcases — who knows why?
My kitties love sleeping on my jewelry cases! Seeing Loiosh doing that is making me giggle as my babies all do it as well. though I call them crazy as it is hot as anything out and in the house yet they still want to bake on a sunny window sill- I look at my all black kitty Spooky and ask him how on earth could that feel good?!?
Cats are strange. I’ve got a black one, too, and when he’s lying in the sun his fur gets so hot it almost hurts to touch — but he’s all happy. Strange child.
